Fred and Karleen Dewey

 

Fred M. Dewey holds a Ph.D, and is a retired chemistry professor of 35 years. He co-founded and directs Mercy Ministries (founded in 1986) in Denver, Colorado, USA. He and Karleen have ten children, and is a grandfather of seventeen grandchildren. He taught at De LaSalle University  in Manila , Philippines from 1984-85 as a Fulbright Fellow, and lectured at universities throughout the Philippines . He also taught at the Technical University of Budapest in 1996, and lectured at universities in Timisoara and Oradea, Romania . Fred had traveled in China, Thailand , western and eastern Europe. He has volunteered in Marghita , Romania for sixteen years, and has been a board member for Fundatia Crestina Elim (FCE) in Marghita since its founding in 1996. Fred currently lives and volunteers in Marghita , Romania with FCE. Fred enjoys: the Bible, reading, walking, watching track and field events, family, good soup, shooting baskets, fishing in the mountains of Colorado, old fashion hymns, and traveling with his wife and family.

 

Karleen R. Dewey holds an B.S. in Early Childhood Development and a M.A in counseling. She completed the master’s program in counseling at Colorado Christian University in 1995. She is the mother of 17; six by birth,  four adopted, and seven foster children. Karleen is the co-founder and director of Mercy Ministries, and founder and director of the Mothering Center of Colorado from 1989 to 1999. She started volunteering in Romania in 1991, and currently lives and volunteers in Marghita , Romania with FCE.
She enjoys: family, world travel, the ocean, Colorado mountains, reading, rain, snowy nights, firelight, teaching parents of troubled children, teaching English to Romanian orphans, girls’ basketball, mysteries without gore, Asian food, dark chocolate, Dr. Pepper, ice cream, and her laptop. She dislikes: reptiles, mosquitoes, crowded places, shelf roads, roller coasters, and humidity.
